Norwood’s own Dorothy “Dottie” “Kammie” Kamenshek played in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League (AAGPB). The league played 12 seasons starting in 1943 and ending in 1954. It was founded by MLB executives Phillip Wrigley, Branch Rickey, and Paul V. Harper, as an attempt to keep up interest in the sport while so many male players were fighting overseas in World War II. The leagues best team was the Rockford Peaches, for whom Kamenshek played. The team won four league titles.
A portion of proceeds from each shirt sold will benefit the AAGPBL Player’s Association. A non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the History of the AAGPBL and supporting women and girls all across our country who deserve the opportunity to play “Hardball”.
