Adopt A Book, Inc. is a non-profit founded in December 2011 by then eight-year-old twins, Hannah and Alexander Laman.
Since November 2011, the Laman twins have distributed over 227,000 books to hundreds of locations serving underprivileged children and families. Additionally, the organization has established reading nooks in schools and community centers. Books have been provided to schools and organizations where reading opportunities are provided for school children throughout Northern Kentucky, Indiana, New Jersey, Cincinnati, and several surrounding counties. Their helping hand has stretched all the way to Zimbabwe and Puerto Rico where books they have collected are donated to help bring the gift of reading to children there.‚ÂÂ
Adopt A Book was selected as the winner of the 2020 State Literacy Award by the Library of Congress. This award is bestowed upon 10 organizations across the country that works to mitigate literacy throughout communities and the world.
