A holiday tradition in the Tristate from the mid-1950s until the mid-1980s, Santa’s Workshop, featuring the Shillito‘s Elves was open for visitors at Shillito’s Department Store downtown. Over the year’s they’ve turned up in various places during the holidays including Macy’s (who inherited them from Lazarus, who got them when they bought Shillito), a church, and storefront in Mariemont. When, where, and if they’ll ever return is up for debate (they’re in storage somewhere in town), but their memory certainly lives on.
